After finding that Jangsudae had been destroyed we decided to go to our 2nd favorite climbing area Kanhyun. After 2 hours of driving we arrived to find the parking lot full and thousands of Koreans at the "resort"". It is more like a U.S. state park than a resort but the name is Ganhyun Resort. We found a cart to put all of our stuff in and decided to stay despite the crowds due to the thoughts of a nice swim in the river and an afternoon of climbing. We pitched our tent in the middle of hundreds of other campers who were there simply to enjoy the day. We enjoyed wading in the river (we tried to swim but all the deep sections were roped off and we kept getting in trouble for going there) and one highlight was a fish catching event. We had no idea of what was happening initially but were being pulled by Koreans to this fenced off area in the river following an announcement. A thousand Koreans stood anxiously on the beach and rushed into the river at the sound of a whistle. Hundreds of fish were released and everyone was frantically trying to catch the fish with their hands! Many used gloves but others went bare handed. Fish were being stuffed in shirts, netting, plastic bags, and pretty much anything one could find. It was unbelievable! I was not good at this "game" and didn't catch any fish even though I touched tons!



















Our campsite is in the middle of all of these. There were about twice as many tents the day before. It was like camping at a rock concert only there was tons of soju instead of music.
